Analysis:
The season of remakes is on and it is being noticed that Bollywood is lifting a lot of subjects from south and remaking it in their own style. Similarly, few subjects are going from Mumbai to other places. But there is always a challenge. One has to be careful about which film is being remade and how the script must be converted to suit the taste of contemporary audience. This was the problem with this film. It marks the debut of south superstar Ram Charan into Bollywood and he was reprising the role of Amitabh Bachchan which is rather courageous. But a lot is left to be desired in this remake. For instance, the script is outdated, the screenplay lacked the fizz, the dialogues didn’t carry that punch. In other departments, the background score was more like a deterrent than adding energy. Only one song is worth watching and listening. Cinematography was quite dark. Editing was alright. Costumes and art department did justice to their jobs. In performance front, Ram Charan was able to carry the burden with confidence but it must be said that his skills were not used properly. Priyanka Chopra looked very ordinary in terms of performance and she went completely wrong in her makeup and styling. Prakash Raj is the only actor to watch out for his entertaining antics. Sanjay Dutt was good and made his presence felt wherever required. Atul Kulkarni’s potential was not tapped properly. Dayashankar Pandey was not used to his fullest. Kavita Kaushik sizzled for a bit. Overall, this is a film which carries good hype but in reality the execution was not that great so the output is not good. - indiabells
